Brockman House Inc. operates wholly from it's function as a community house, which encompasses our Family Support Program & Adult Learning opportunities. Our Community House receives funding annually to provide support for vulnerable families, including those on a low income, with young children, CaLD families and sole parents.
How we are funded
Brockman Community House must provide the Department for Communities with biannual progress reports and a service provider audit every three years in order to justify the funding. This funding only provides Brockman House Inc. with the income to employ the Director of Community Development, Family Support Officer and part wages for the Financial Administrator and Administration Assistant. All courses at Brockman House Inc. are either fee for service or are provided by funding from another source.
Identifying the communities needs
One of the identified needs in our local area is for quality Children's Services, so that is provided. However, it exists only so long as Brockman Community House has identified the need for it. The Childcare and Outside School Hours Care aspect of Brockman House Inc. is not funded in any way and is fee for service, although it still operates as not for profit.
Brockman Community House staff apply for grants that are applicable to identified needs in our area. If we are successful in receiving them, courses and activities are offered using this funding. We offer, on average, 25 activities each school term. Some are ongoing, others are one off, and yet others are run specifically at community members requests as identified needs.
