Brockman House OSHC
Brockman House Outside School Hours Care is not for profit, fully Accredited and Licensed for 39 children. The OSHC Centre offers a child centered safe and fun environment for children to relax and play both before and after school, and during holidays. OSHC has its own bus and driver, and services 5 local schools.
Focus
The focus in OSHC is upon child directed play and fun, supporting children's development of their social skills, values, respect and problem solving abilities in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The central theme here is that everything is always child directed, and one large part of achieving this is through weekly Children's Meetings.
Bookings
Bookings for Before School Care and After School Care are taken during business hours however a booking is not a confirmation of your child's place. Your child may be placed on a waiting list and until you have confirmation please don't presume that your child will be in our care. Bookings for Vacation Care begin halfway through the school term. Unfortunately, due to limited places, not all families can be accomodated and Brockman House OSHC abides by the Federal Governments rulings on access to care. At risk children and children of working parents have priority, however social children are happily welcomed should there be places available.
Hours of Care
Brockman House OSHC is also open for pupil free days and early closings, although parents must inform the Centre prior to the day. Before School Care opens at 7.00am and the bus leaves Brockman House at 8.10am. After School care begins with children pickups at 3.00pm and closes at 6.00pm. Late fees apply if children are not picked up by this time.
For School Term dates, professional development days of teachers etc, please go to the Department for Education website here - www.det.wa.edu.au/education/termdates/ Please note that school pupil free days and teacher professional development days may effect the above school dates. If your child's school is affected, you are responsible for informing us prior to the date so that we can arrange care for your child/ren.

The After School Care program is child directed. Children may also walk down to the local park to play if they wish, and will be accompanied by a Qualified Playleader. The activities and play is entirely up to the children and will be facilitated by our Playleaders if necessary.
Children also plan their afternoon menu and are assisted by staff in making it, if they request it. This forms part of our policy to help children be independent and gives opportunities to talk about making healthy choices in what we eat. Often children will look a recipe up on the internet and go about making it with their friends. Fruit is always available.
After School Care is open until 6.00pm. We request that parents pick their children up by 5.50pm to enable staff to close and lock up the building by 6pm. Late fees apply. See the Parents Handbook or call Reception. We love to hear from parents and caregivers. If you'd like to give us feedback, please contact the OSHC Staff Team on 9279-1588.
Outside School Hours Care Fees
Brockman House OSHC fees are designed to cover staff wages, which constitute at least 85% of expenses, and other overheads like insurance and utilities, as well as take into account staff to child ratios. Fees are kept to the bare minimum and are only raised when costs of living or staff wages have increased. If any profit is made from fees, it goes straight back into the Centre for improved resources.
Brockman House OSHC Centre is Fully Accredited which means that we can offer Child Care Benefit for families. It is up to each family to contact the Family Assistance Office on: 13 61 50 (or 13 12 02 for multilingual support) to register for Child Care Benefit. We may then offer you reduced fees.
When you first book your child/ren into the Centre, you must pay a two week bond which consists of two weeks of your daily fees. When fees go up, or you add or remove your child/ren's days, the bond in your fees will reflect this.
Fees must be paid weekly. Failure to do so for two weeks and your children's place in care will be given to another family. If you are experiencing difficulties paying, please talk to the OSHC Coordinator or the Financial Adminstrator to organise a payment scheme. Fees are payable even when your child is absent. Families will be informed of the fee structure when they book their child/ren into the service. Fees are payable via EFTPOS (please note, before 9am and after 3.00pm, Reception is closed and carers may not be able to leave the children in order to process EFTPOS) at Reception, or by cash.
